Hi everyone,

We want to wish you a lovely holiday season filled with good food, friends and family.
And… We’ve got three big announcements to make! (And a few little scheduling changes too.)

Changes to the 2015 Course Schedule

For those of you planning on taking a course with us this year, please note the following date changes:

  1. The Spring Weekend PDC will now take place on: Feb 28 & March 1, March 14 & 15, March 28 & 29, April 11 & 12, April 25 & 26, and May 9 & 10, 2015.
  2. The Fall Intensive PDC in Invermere has now been moved to the spring. The new dates are: May 15-28, 2015.
  3. We will now be offering only one Advanced Practicum weekend, taking place in Invermere on May 30 & 31, 2015. (Now with only 20 available spots, we expect this Practicum to fill up quickly!)

Verge is Going on Sabbatical in 2015-2016

We are going to teach two last Permaculture Design Courses this spring (one in Calgary and one in Invermere, BC) and then we’ll be really quiet for an extended time.
Why? Well, while we do intend to teach in the future, for the short to medium term we’ve decided to put more energy elsewhere: Michelle is going to step out of the business to focus on our family, and Rob is going to focus his energy into our new business venture. We likely won’t start teaching permaculture courses again until late 2016.
So – if you’ve been on the fence about taking our PDCs, our upcoming spring courses might be your last chance for a while. And, don’t forget about our early bird prices (up to $900 off) until January 15th.

New Business in the Works

And with that – we’d like to introduce our new consulting firm: Adaptive Habitat.
Adaptive Habitat is a property design and project management company that builds resilient homes, acreages and farms for landowners, by integrating innovative technology, engineered solutions and ecological design.
Stay tuned for our website launch (end of January, 2015).

Joel Salatin Home Study Course – We’re Getting Published!

Lastly, a little update on our project with Joel Salatin… We’ve got great news! We’ve been working really hard this past year to gather up every mind-bending morsel of Joel’s mob-stocking lignified wisdom from the courses we hosted in 2013 & 2014 and capture it all in our very first tangible home study course.

And now, finally, we are working with Acres U.S.A, who has agreed to publish it for us. It’s a big project – over 18 hours of video lectures plus a 400 page encyclopedic study guide. It’s been slow to pull together, but we had to give the project the effort and quality it deserved. And with Acres coming on board as our publisher, we know the end product is going to be amazing!
The new projected timeline for completion is spring 2015 – and it will be available for sale at We’ll surely send out a celebratory announcement when it is available for purchase.

Thank you all, a hundred times over, for your support these past five years. We’re really looking forward to our new direction in the coming years, and hope to see you along the journey!

Rob & Michelle Avis
